We are seeking a qualified Production Supervisor to train in our *Pineville, LA operations. This role is responsible for scheduling and coordinating the flow of material into, out of, and through the plant operations. The Production Supervisor will ensure compliance to established customer quality and delivery expectations while maintaining a safe and productive work environment. Must be willing to work outdoors.

*This is a training position; candidate should be willing to relocate to another facility in the southern US. 

Principal Responsibilities: 

  • Direct supervision of work crews processing materials to customer specification in a safe and productive manner.
  • Analyzes work orders to estimate worker hours and create schedules that meet both internal and external needs.
  • Assigns operating equipment and personnel to accomplish efficient material flow on a timely and cost-effective basis.
  • Computes amounts of stock and supplies required for operations, based on production schedules, and requisitions materials from storage area to meet customer specifications.
  • Interprets product specifications and job orders to workers, and assigns duties.
  • Interfaces with others in the organization to ensure production deadlines are met.
  • Coordinates quality control inspections for compliance to standard specifications.
  • Establishes or adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, environmental requirements, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving work problems.
  • Maintains time and production records.
  • Participates and contributes to company safety program.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned. 

Management duties include supervision of exempt and/or non-exempt staff. This includes but is not limited to, conducting performance evaluations and improvement plans, approving paid time-off (PTO), assigning or delegating work, providing on-the-job training, giving guidance to staff, taking disciplinary action, and interviewing candidates for open positions.

Qualifications: 

  • Education: Bachelor degree; or two to four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: Supervisory experience in wood products and other manufacturing environments
  • License/Certification: NA 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. 
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of email, spreadsheet software, database software, word processing software, and presentation software.
